The event is free, but if you make a $10 donation at the door, you will receive a token to donate to the Conservation Program of your choice. Additional tokens may also be purchased for $10 each.

Mix and Mingle! 

It wouldn’t be the Mane Event without a brief presentation from UHGAP and The Houston Zoo, awarding scholarships to deserving students, and meet with friends old and new! The popular Houston food truck Bernie’s Burger Bus will be on site, selling their mouth-watering burgers and fries. Music will be provided by DJ Dave Wrangler.

The Main Event of the Mane Event 

Designers were asked to create a poster that calls attention to one of a select group of twelve conservation programs at the Zoo. The most beautiful and effective designs for each of the twelve programs have been selected by a panel of judges to be on display at the Mane Event. The twelve posters will also be displayed and auctioned at the Houston Zoo’s Conservation Gala on October 9th.

All submissions are now posted in a gallery on the UHGAP website (click here!) and will be digitally projected at the Mane Event.

People’s Choice Award 

Guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite of the twelve winning Conservation posters by casting a ballot, and the winning “People’s Choice” will be announced the evening of the event. 

Poster Sales and Support 

Available for purchase are special edition prints of the twelve posters, smaller reproductions which will be sold individually or in a complete set of twelve, and Conservation items from the Zoo. 

Proceeds from the Mane Event and poster auction and sales will support conservation programs at the Houston Zoo and student scholarships and programs for the University of Houston Graphic Communications program.
